Dr. Theron 'Terry' Trimble, 1/9/1943 - 4/12/2024
A Message from Florida Council for the Social Studies President Robin Blalock
It is with deep sadness that FCSS announces the passing of Dr. Theron (Terry) Trimble. Dr Trimble passed away on Friday, April 12th, 2024 at his home in Marietta, Georgia.
Dr. Trimble was devoted to FCSS for over five decades, serving as President, Executive Director, and Director Emeriti. He assisted in creating the FCSS Endowment which has benefitted hundreds of social studies teachers in providing financing for attendance to a variety of recognized workshops, seminars, and other teacher training institutes.
With his leadership, the FCSS Fund for Excellence in Social Studies Education was created to provide scholarships, outreach to professional organizations, training for pre-service teachers and any other initiatives deemed important to the advancement of quality Social Science education at Florida State University.
In addition to his service to FCSS, Terry also served the National Council for the Social Studies, and in 2005 won their award for outstanding service

He was totally dedicated to the organization, social studies education and the best interests of students throughout Florida and the nation.
Dr. Theron Trimble was a man that everyone respected for his intellect, insights, ideas, strength of conviction, dedication and honesty. He was a great leader in the council who made those around him better board members. He will be deeply missed.
Services will be held Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 2pm at H.M. Patterson & Son - Canton Hill Chapel, at 1157 Old Canton Road, Marietta, GA 30068.
Education was his lifelong passion.
